How much oil will I use this year?

Although this amount can vary widely, a home in our area typically uses between 600 and 800 gallons of fuel a year.

Factors that affect your usage:

  • The size of your home
  • The amount of insulation
  • Whether or not your heating system also provides hot water
  • How warm you keep your home
  • The severity of the weather

You should check your fuel gauge weekly during cold weather until you are familiar with your own usage.

How big is my oil tank?

The standard oil tank is a 275 gallon tank measuring 27 x 44 x 60. Allowing room for expansion and variations between manufacturers a 275 tank can hold between 225-250 gallons of oil.

How much oil is in my tank?

There should be a gauge on the top of your tank. It will either read up and down like a thermometer or in a circular shape like many auto gas gauges. Both styles are usually divided into quarters (empty, ¼, ½, ¾, full). Proceed with care; many gauges are not entirely accurate.

How do I become an Anchor Fuel Customer?

It’s easy. Click “MY ACCOUNT” at the top of the page, call us 401.619.2222 or send us an email customerservice@anchorfuel.com. If we’ve never been to your property before, we will schedule a onetime complimentary tank inspection. This inspection ensures safe deliveries and will be scheduled at your convenience.

How soon can I get a delivery?

We do our best to make same day deliveries, but it is wise to place your order 1 or 2 business days ahead of time.

How do I place an order?

Simply give us a call 401.619.2222. Existing customers also have the option of ordering on line by clicking on My Account in the top left portion of every page. You will need your account number the first time.

Existing customers may also email an order: customerservice@anchorfuel.com. When ordering by email please specify the amount of fuel, method of payment and preferred delivery date. Allow 48 hours for processing. An email confirmation will be sent.

How do I pay for my fuel?

Your choice: MasterCard, Visa, Discover, cash, checks or Newport County Chamber of Commerce Gift Certificates. You may also pay for your fuel with our Equalized Payment Plan. This interest free plan allows you to divide your fuel costs into equal monthly payments. See our Programs Page or contact the office for more information.

Do I have to be home to meet the driver?

Not if we’ve delivered to your property before and have a tank inspection on file.

Do you offer Automatic Delivery?

Yes. Allow us to do the work for you. We’ll keep an eye on the weather, monitor your typical usage and schedule deliveries for you accordingly. You’ll never have to worry about checking your oil gauge or calling in an order. See our Programs Page or contact the office for more information.

Why is it more expensive to purchase 100 gallons of fuel?

Larger, fewer deliveries are more efficient. Making multiple trips to your home is inefficient. Getting a truck and a driver to your property is costly. The more efficiently we can deliver your fuel, the more savings we can pass on to you.

How can I save money on my fuel bills?

  • Professionally clean and tune your heating system annually
  • Install a programmable thermostat
  • Seal any drafts
  • Remove or weatherize your window air conditioner
  • If you live in an apartment building, order with your neighbors, we can offer bulk discounts
